One We Hold Dear...
Aug. 29th, 2003 12:57 amA pale, tender hand,
Caressing, holding and loving.
A simple touch,
A need to be near.
A breath, taken, exchanged,
In and out, wrapping around us.
The rhythms change
But the act does not.
A tear, sliding slowly down
Sparkling upon pale flesh.
Wet and free it travels,
Giving sheen to what lay behind.
Words, spoken and no
Meaningless drivel
Left empty and cold
The hearts true thoughts not revealed
Love, torn and twisted
Left bear and hidden away
Residing in a touch and
In a tear.
Death, coming for one
Silent in breathing, a tiny gasp
Loud in the endless alarm beside the bed
Death, taking one we hold dear.
Caressing, holding and loving.
A simple touch,
A need to be near.
A breath, taken, exchanged,
In and out, wrapping around us.
The rhythms change
But the act does not.
A tear, sliding slowly down
Sparkling upon pale flesh.
Wet and free it travels,
Giving sheen to what lay behind.
Words, spoken and no
Meaningless drivel
Left empty and cold
The hearts true thoughts not revealed
Love, torn and twisted
Left bear and hidden away
Residing in a touch and
In a tear.
Death, coming for one
Silent in breathing, a tiny gasp
Loud in the endless alarm beside the bed
Death, taking one we hold dear.
