and I was bitching there was no originality in Hollywood:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Timur Bekmambetov will direct Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The horror film stars Benjamin Walker as the 16th President as a highly trained assassin who secretly battles the undead. Seth Grahame-Smith adapts the script from his novel. Tim Burton will co-produce the film with Bekmambetov.

I...can 't...stop...laughing...

The Fountain of Youth, Atlantis, Flying Machines and...Jack Sparrow?! Disney's smoking the good crack again!

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan. I'm also a huge Tim Burton and Johnny Depp fan.

...so why does the idea of these two things together make me want to vomit?

Probably because I knew from the START that it would be a mess. A giant, annoying, WRONG mess. And oh look, it is.

Tim Burton REALLY should have left Disney alone and played with the American McGee version. It's dark, it's insane, it's his style! But touching the beloved CHILDREN'S classic and doing that to it. No thank you.

Though, I am torn, if just for the fact Anne Hathaway is in it. My goddess! Though, not much of an opinion on her acting since she's uh...not in the tailer.

Though Sherlock Holmes... *cackles*

Very Holmesy, though with far more comedy then should be proper. And I'm quite annoyed at them aging the characters down...I'm quite sure Watson was older then whomever's playing him...and fatter.

AND WHY IS THERE A BLOODY WOMAN IN THE MOVIE! No, not the blond, the little tart.

...and this trailer would make much more sense if Arsene Lupin was the villain, seriously. If you watch it with that mind frame, perfect sense. Some crap ass vampire plot (no, I haven't actually looked up what the hell's going on yet), does not. That would require less comedy and more seriousness.

At least Watson has a backbone...and oh, the tart was Irene, guess she can stay then. Would have prefered Moriarty as the villain though.

Edit: ODOT is a dumbass... For the past ten years we've been involved in a very annoying project called, appropriately, the Oregon Bridge Project, which destroys/rebuilds and/or fixes the bridges of Oregon. Ten. Years. And now the latest study says that if we have an earthquake, 400 bridges will collapse and 600 will be damaged.

WTF have we been repairing for ten years?!

Seriously?

Is there really such a shortage in the US of creativity that we have to rip off other countries?  I’m mean really?

I mean sure, it was cute the first couple shows (Whose Line is it Anyway?, Weakest Link, so forth), but when more then half our current fall schedule is a show that originated in another country, something is WRONG.

This goes the same for recycling cartoons, comic books (er, guilty as I wanted an MK live action movie), books, ect and so far.  Hell, even our sequels are getting a bit WTF (Mummy III anyone?).

This…really shouldn’t be, we have brilliant, talented people who can pull original (or old but twisted) plots out of their ass.  The problem is of course, the film/telivision industries’ locked door way of doing buisness.  You CAN’T break into the buisness without an extremely lucky break.  And of course, in a world that worships actors and directors, without giving the writers their credit, we end up eating whatever is fed to us because “OMG x is doing it!”

Don’t get me wrong, I love the film buisness to death, it’s one of my passions to act and direct, but the constant theft of other’s creativity as well as the severe lack of ANYTHING really original (or at least that I can access), makes me fear for what will become of films and telivision.  Pretty soon such entertainment will be ‘the same old thing’ with nothing worth watching because you’ll have already seen it in some form.

And yes, that goes for recycled plots, comedy (both romantic and general) suffer this curse severely and it’s a shame.

Random Updates:

Mum is doing better, all her staples are out and the infection seems to be lessening.  Less work for me taking care of her (except to order her back to bed), though now I have to catch up on all my other work! *sigh*

The kittens are doing wonderfully, got some GREAT shots of Rolly and Polly.  They are sooo fat!  And absolutely adorable of course.  Will post the piccies soon!
