(Veteran’s Day for those of you not in America or not near a calendar), I think I shall honor…
My Grandpere, Jim. A navel solder who served in World War II, now locked in the VA’s althzimer’s unit.
My Grandpere, Bob. A World War I or World War II vet, now deceased.
My Great Grandpere, Von. A World War I vet, now deceased.
And in this day of remembering and honor, I shall mention…
My Pere, Ken, who wanted to be in the army so badly he forged documents saying he served.
My Mere and myself, one wanted the Army, one wanted the Navy, both were too heavy to enter.
My Grandmere, daughter of a solder, wife of two solders…and she still covers her heart every time a flag is raised.
These men and women that we honor today fought, bled and sometimes died for our country and the freedoms we enjoy. They did it in the 1700’s, they do it now, and they will continue to do it. I will honor every name I don’t know. For they gave all they could for something they agreed with..protecting out country. I may not agree with war, I may not be happy we fight them, but I wil always honor the solder who is just doing their job.
Goddess bless those men and women who still have nightmares about what they’ve seen. Bless those who are not yet veteran’s, who still fight this day. Goddess, bless those men and women who walk the streeths today, while crowds watch, not understanding, and not caring of what those solders gave to fight for us. For those are the ones who need it most.
