Crying Softly
Apr. 2nd, 2005 12:07 pmI'm not Catholic...I'm not even Christian...
But even I can't help but weep softly as the news plays across my screen that Pope John Paul II has died. For all his faults, an no matter his religion, he was a great man.
He's been the pope all of my life. That same smiling face and gracious waving...
The man who was willing to meet with any world leader, no matter what he thought of them or their party. The man who fought for peace, for freedom, for everyone to be treated equal, no matter what. This man who lead a religious nation and had the weight of them on his shoulders, yet never buckled under the preassure.
I will leave off here as it's hard to type from the crying. But I will leave with a blessing, as most will be saying some for today.
May the goddess bless him, may he find rest at Home. May she guide him and embrace him as he makes his journey, may he know the truth of life, and the truth of the journey. May he be blessed and kept safe until we can see him again.
