How did Native American's get to America? I mean waaaayyy back when. Neanderthals and Homo Erectus generally are thought to have existed in Europe, then migrated to Aisa and so forth...so..when did they or their decendents come here...and how come no one remembered? One would think that someone would remember Bobby and co wen this way and pass it on to their children, and then grandchildren, and so on. I mean, they didn't just suddenly spring out of the ground...soo...how did they get here?

And what were they doing while everyone else was making history? We know about the Romans and the Greeks and the Egyptians...what about here? *poke* Where is their history?!

I don't know why these thoughts occured to me...probably because I'm bored and watching WAAAAYYY too much History Channel.

*shrugs*

Uhmm... the native americans came here back when the continents were still semi-conected... and they came over this little piece of land or something... And their history was destroyed when the rest of the 'white man' and established coltures came and mucked it up. They decided they should 'trade' with them, by taking their food and shelter and handing them guns and diseases they'd never been exposed to and didn't know how to handle. SO they had all this new metal equipment that thye were coming up with random things to do with, and all the things that they had learned: different farming techniques, ways to handle the animals, all this good juicy information that we could SOO use now; it was never passed on to the next generations, CUZ THEY HAD THE NEW METAL THINGIES!! So... all those lovely 'established coltures' screwed us over royally. -steps off soapbox- -runs and hides- That is all.

Popular perception is generally that the first people in crossed a land bridge between the far east of Siberia and Alaska, which was exposed during the last Ice Age. Given that this was probably 30,000 or more years ago, it's perhaps not surprising that this event isn't remembered; people simply weren't in contact then like we are now. Maybe the first people left nobody to tell? We can't possibly know. People were moving about all the time, establishing communities all over the earth and a migration probably wasn't a noteworthy thing.

Theory also states - as an aside that may interest you - that about the oldest 'event' to be seared on the popular consciousness occurred at the end of the last Ice Age (8-12,000 years ago) - the sea level rise as the ice pack retreated possibly accounts for the prevalence of flood mythology in most world cultures. However this is just a theory.
