As this post contains information of a medical and personal nature, I’m cutting it early.

Dear Dr. Smith (of the Mercy Medical Center ER)-

A reasonably sized protruding bulge on the upper left side of my stomach is not a known or common symptom of the stomach flu. Neither is sharp stabbing pain that goes on longer then two weeks (especially since my stomach is a few organs down).

I understand nothing is protruding through my ribs, but you’re not listening when I tell you that the pain is actually UNDER the rib edge, not near my ribs. And yes, my ribs did hurt when you pressed down, YOU WERE PRESSING AGAINST THE BONE!

Also, a month or so ago, you also diagnosed me with the stomach flu when I was rushed the the ER via ambulance due to rectal bleeding. It turned out I had hemroids, which were agrivated by the loose stool I had been experiancing. Oddly enough….my nausea, vomitting and loose stool hasn’t let up, which would mean I’ve had the flu for a month and some change.

Now, I flunked out of phelobotomy, let alone medical school…but I do think that’s a bit long for a flu course.

So now I’m sucking down oxycoodine like asprin in order to relieve the pain in my side/stomach while waiting for my idiot GP to figure out what’s wrong with me, all because you’re a dumbass who would probably diagnose a broken arm as a migraine.

And about your bedside manner, not only are you always looking as if you have something better to do then treat me, you’re also rude and abrassive. On the last visit, when my mother was attempting to discuss my symptoms with you as I was rather out of it, you talked over her and practically ignored what she was saying. This time, you were rude to both her and myself when we demanded internal tests, rather then your ’stomach flu’ diagnosis, and then you had the audacity to tell me, “You won’t die from this either”, as if I’m being a hypocondriac and making up my symptoms.

Excuse me if I find bleeding from my rectum and bulges where there aren’t ususally such unusual enough to get checked out. I would have waited for my GP, but the heavy vomiting and loose stool made me a bit nervous, considering that when things go bad in my family, they tend to go REALLY bad (we don’t get broken bones, we get tumors).

So thank you, Doctor Smith, for making me feel as if I were a complete idiot who wanted to waste your time. Visiting you is so frustrating and stressful that it’s starting to make me double think going to the ER when I need to, and considering my health….that’s not a good thing.

No, I’m not really going to give this to him, just ranting. I still feel shitty and the pain meds aren’t helping as I’m allergic to them (no pain, but I get itchy all over my body and HIGHLY nauseated, which sucks considering I’m already vomiting.

Mum’s doing much better though, it’s only her back acting up now, so she can help take care of me since the pills also cause vertigo. The lump is a bit of concern, but without the pain (unless of course I press on it), I can ignore it until I manage to see my GP.

I should note, that despite what a jackass the doctor was, the nurses, techs and CNA’s were awsome. They took such good care and did their best to cheer me up. Mum was grumpy because not only was she in pain and tired (we had been in bed just before we left), but she kept getting annoyed because I kept laughing and joking with the hospital staff in an effort to distract myself from the pain. She said it wouldn’t help if I didn’t look sick (which as a moot point by the time the doctor came in, I was REALLY bad off, I could barely open my eyes without wanting to vomit).

So once more, I’m on bed rest.
