Are you required by familial obligation to open your home to someone who turned you away when you yourself were homeless? Even if this person gave birth to you?

nope, not at all. Once you leave home, for whatever reason - family obligation is moot. As far as I'm concerned anyway. If you want to open your home, do so, but not just because it is a parent. It's your home, you can have in it whomsoever you wish.

Is that gramaticaly correct, or am I just blowing smoke? You know what I mean :) or at least I hope so.
