Mere: Why are there four butter knifes in the bathtub?

Me: I was trying to commit suicide very slowly

Mere: *gives look*

Me: I was trying to fix the drain

Mere: By sticking a knife in it and wiggling?

Me: No, mother. *annoyed daughter sigh* I removed the drain cover and metal stopper, attempted to clean out the trap, plunged it, forced water down it to shove whatever’s down there out, ect and so forth.

Mere: Why is the tub full of water?

Me: It didn’t work.

Mere: Oh *pause* Why is this knife twisted?

Me: I shoved it in the drain and wiggled it.
