on a more intresting note…

I know, I should have edited the post below, but I’m being lazy. So this is actually pt. 2 of the post below, though on a seperate subject.
I was scanning in old photos from our photo album (which I will be linking at a later date for those curious), but I found two intresting photos I thought I’d share.
First up, we have an image of Mum’s wedding (well, mum and dad’s).
(from left to right: Grandpere Bob (deceased), Grandmere Darling (the one I always talk about), Great Grandmere Dee (still alive and kicking in her 90’s!), Mummy (so cute!), Daddy, Uncle Micheal (now a multi-millionar with Intel), Uncle David (Owns his own buisness in Idaho).
Here we have a close up of the happy couple with a third addition!
(Yup, mum was pregnant with me when she got married, so there’s my very first picture! Aren’t I cute? *giggles*)
And….
The happy family! (from left to right: Daddy (Kenneth Humphrey), Me! (pinches baby cheeks), Mummy (Michelle Humphrey nee Loeffler). Arn’t we just dorks in this image? What can I say, it was the early eighties).
Edit: Mayoral Stuffs and Riddle
So, there is a big hoopla in Riddle over the Sawdust Jubiliee (our Fourth of July celebration). Basically, sixteen years ago, when we moved here, the Sawdust Jubilee was always held on Main Street, where all the shops were, as well as the firehouse, which hosted the Beer Garden and BBQ, earning money for their year long projects like the fireworks, toys for tots, the easter egg hunt and clothe a child.
Then, a couple or more years ago, they moved the Sawdust Jubilee to the park, on the other side of town, effectively cutting the firehouse and buisnesses out of the profits because of location (and people were too lazy to attend the events on Main Street when they’re were things at the park). I don’t remember WHY we moved things, I just know that the hardware store owner is involved (I think it was parking).
So, the firehouse, needing to raise the money they used to via the Sawdust Jubilee, created their own event, Harvest Moon, which occurs in September, except, the city was against them about it, and never gives them an easy time (then again, the city never gives them an easy time about anything).
So, last town council meeting, a group went to protest and get the Sawdust Jubilee moved BACK to Main Street, in order to give the economy a boost and basically go back to what it was.
Now, the thing is, the Mayor is good friends with Mr. Hardware Store Owner, and usually does what he can to give Mr. Hardware Store Owner what he wants, which often goes against what the citizens of Riddle want. So when Mr. Hardware Store Owner says he doesn’t want the Jubilee downtown, then by the gods the mayor will block it, even if it includes ignoring the town’s wishes.
So we got a special meeting this coming week concerning the Jubilee where buisness owners, residents and kids are going to speak up about what ‘we’ want. Last time this happened, it was to get the Fire Chief re-instated and ended up with the entire rural fireboard stepping down in a huff…hopefully this time we can disband the Jubilee commitie (who need to find something else to do..they suck).
Now, if it was just a small thing of us vs them, I wouldn’t have a problem, but the BLATENT favoritism and poor politics is really starting to piss me off. It takes the whole TOWN standing there and yelling at them to get them to do something? Riddiculous. I already wanted the mayor gone (as evidenced by previous posts), but now I’m starting to wish we could get rid of the entire council as well.
I’ve said before that I was debating running for mayor (filing is in August), but was leaning against it due to constant illness, but it’s getting to the point that I won’t have a choice, if I give the slightest damn about this city. Something needs to be done about this little ‘power couple’ between the Mayor and Mr. Hardware Store Owner, as well as for the buisness owners and fire house who keep getting slighted.
I’m still at a loss as to what to do, since I am still sick, but I just…can’t stand this crap. I might try instead for a seat on the council if one comes up…I’ll have to look into it.
This bullshit has to stop, seriously.
