No one, in ANY world has the right to bring children into an argument, ESPECIALLY a fandom argument. I got into the FAKE fandom as an escape from my 'real' one. I spent five years in the HP (that would be Harry Potter) world watching little idiots who thought they were adults start wars and destroy the 'community' feel of the fandom. I saw online friends turn into RL stalkers, I saw lawsuits between fandom members and learned more about internet harrassment laws then I really wanted to. It was a mess. And now I come to find that FAKE isn't all that fun and exciting. And it's not the books, it's the people contained within. The bitterness and backstabbing and god knows what else that I'm turning a blind eye to is disguting me. Could I do another five years in a fandom that tries to kill itself? No. Read the fics, don't read the fics, that's your fucking choice. Hell I honestly can't fault you for wanking about her, but be respectful to the fact she is a human being. She has a life, she has her faults. Just. Like. You. You aren't perfect, neither am I. Imagine how you'd feel if we turned on you and wrote the same things. It would hurt. And it will hurt because someday someone will, and that's not a threat, it's reality. Feed the beast and it will eventually consume you. Oh, and before you 'wank' ME, I've heard it all. I know my writings suck, I know I'm a stuck up snobby bitch. You can say every little thing your heart desires because until you threaten to kill me, you haven't topped the HP fandom. You have a point there. It's the internet, dude - 90% of the people you meet don't use their own names and can lie blatantly about their ages (I don't know a single person who was of age when he or she first read a lemon, for example). So this kind of "I read about this person in a friend of a friend's LJ, which gives me the ultimate knowledge of how she is in RL" crap is really just dumb.

I admit I've expressed strong opinions of certain ficcers, including Wildefyre - but they've all been based on how they've behaved in the fandom, and what they've published online. What the shit do I care how some woman whose real first name I don't even know raises her kids? That's not what fandoms, communities and lists are for.

Ficbitching is perfectly okay in my books, because the fic was published, it's there, no questions asked, and everyone is free to form their opinions about it. But bitching about a person you only know through some stories she's posted online? Come on. There's got to be a better use for that time.
