*bangs head violently against wall*

I have a song I want to download.
The song was released sometime between 1996 and 2007.
The song is one in a million of it's generation about being alone, being depressed, being an outsider, etc.
I have no idea about the title of the song, the artist, or even most of the lyrics (no matter how hard I try, I just cannot remember more then one or two words of it).
THERE ARE A MILLION SONGS THAT WERE RELEASED DURING THAT TIME PERIOD, WITH THAT THEME!
I hate my brain...it will not let this go.

I want to say that somewhere in there there was an 'I know what it's like', but I think that verse comes from Everclear's "What it's like", though I think the word 'scream' was in a chorus or two. For some reason 'no one's listening' is coming to me, but that could also be from Linkin Park's "No body listens" (like I said, there's a LOT from the time period I'm searching).
The song was by a male singer (probably a group), not rap, obviously not female, and I have a very emo punk vibe (though I've checked the usual suspects for that period of time, I know it's before MCR became popular and after 1999 and most of Britney Spears hits which makes the time period now 2003-2007). Also, it's very...teen angst/depressive/isolation (though again, checking songs with those themes results in no hits).
I just can't narrow the time frame down and even though I know it was a popular song on the radio, it's not in any of Billboard's top 100-200 charts for that same time.
One good thing so far...I re-discovered a lot of songs from the late 90's early 00's that I had forgotten (though now I've got Kyle Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" stuck in my head...damn catchy beat).
