OWWWW!

I'm finally conscious enough to tell you what went down yesterday so this be a reasonably long email. Then I'm off to get drugged up and go back to sleep.

Mary T., before I forget, you owe me a boon but we need to move it to when I can actually sit still long enough to accept it.

Anyway. Since I want to tell you ALL about my surgery, we'll start at the beginning. Headed out at about 5.30am, picked up Grandmere and headed up to the hospital. Blood pressure was a torture as always. They used the self done machine and had to do it twice. I warned them I have a low pain threshold so they much have had fun playing Spanish Inquisition on me. They then made me strip...completely. Couldn't someone have told me I'd have to be nakey to get this done?!

IV wasn't as bad as the last time, only four needle jabs this time (two locals, one miss, one successful). One nurse told me I was supposed to have a CBC as well as a pregnancy test (the CBC makes more sense then the preg test) so they had to do that.

I talked with Mere and Grandmere a bit before being wheeled back and both yelled at me for being too hyper (I was trying to distract myself from the coming surgery and besides, when I get nervous I talk...a lot).

Finally got wheeled back and started to get so cold I was literally bouncing off the gurney...luckily they finally warmed me up. They warned me I would be asleep shortly and then...nada.

Woke up..and freaked out. No one would tell me what was going on, I couldn't breath and was coughing so much I was loosing oxygen. The recovery nurses reply? "Oh calm down, there's nothing to get upset over." Umm, bitch lady...I CAN'T BREATH!!!

I then informed her I was about to throw up (I was having an allergic reaction to the pain meds they were giving me) and instead of helping me sit up, she just tossed a bowl on my chest and in a disgusted tone said "Here," Promptly leaving me to choke myself if I did void. Yes, lovely woman.

I got out of recovery in under half an hour...mainly because I wouldn't stop yelling at her to get me out of there (like I wanted to be under HER care). On the way to the baby ward (I was stuck on maternity...I just love the symbolism here), Doctor Idiot came by (my gen practitioner) and asked me how I was feeling and if she could do anything for me. I promptly told her she could get me out of here.

They got me settled into bed and cleaned up (embarrassing that, luckily my nurses were women) and then brought in Mere and Grandmere. Grandmere stayed for a moment before heading home and Mere helped me relax. They finally gave me water which I promptly sucked down ignoring their warning of possible voiding (didn't) and got as comfortable as I could. I took my pain pills and had more neg reactions (not too bad, just nausea, headache and dizziness). Got a bit of rest although it was hard to do so as they came in every five seconds.

Nice Nurse (Lisa) wanted to give me a liquid lunch but I insisted on a regular meal as the sooner I A. drank (done), B. Ate reg food, C. moved around, D. Used the rest room (done), I could go home. I had a lovely pot roast with veggies, mashed taters, soup and pudding that stayed happily down (surprising my nurse) and then promptly asked for a cig. She told me no as I would void (they like this word I think). I said I was having one and she said to wait an hr. Half and hr later I was in the courtyard, IV machine and all, having a wonderful ciggy. No reaction to that so that was another hurdle jumped.

Lisa said I would probably be out at two pm at the rate I was going and Mere and I watched some telly while waiting. A volunteer came in with a purple plant, asking if "Amanda" was here. We nodded, confused and she handed me the plant. Turned out Grandmere grew a heart for once and bought me a pretty. Though I don't know why she bought me a plant since I tend to kill them but the thought was nice.

Mid afternoon I went out to have another cigarette (and conned mere into buying me another Italian soda by pouting and rubbing my sore tummy), and we went upstairs to visit another friend of the family who was in the hospital (didn't get to see him as he was napping but I got to walk around for a bit).

Got a lovely back massage by the massage therapist sometime later. And about NINE pm the doctor finally showed up to release me. didn't even examine me. He heard all the reports about me walking around and every hurdle I jumped so he just sprung me. Then there was a fight over the pain pills as I can't leave without them but we can't afford them (my check hasn't come and Mere's over drawn). We finally called Grandmere and she agreed to put it on her credit card. We left, headed to the Pharmacy...only to find out that Fred Myer's can no longer take credit cards over the phone. Mere had to write a bad check to get them so now I feel bad for her. I know it's illegal but we NEEDED those pills. Didn't get to get a Halloween kitty on sale due to it so that's a pouts.

Started having ANOTHER allergic reaction on the way home, worst yet as I almost voided all over Mere's shinny new car...luckily I didn't and got to get home to bed. New problem...I sleep on my side in a fetal position...my wounds don't want me to...thus I get to be woken up every few hrs in pain. Yay.

Meds have now been switched to non allergic reaction ones and I've been sleeping due to pain pills. I'm currently bedridden due to a rash from one wound and bleeding from another. I'm still sore from at least two of my wounds (severe pain) and general pain from the other two, but it's manageable. I love you all and hope you're doing good. I'll be around off and on so email me and I'll ping you back.

*hugs*
