Recently the 9th Circuit US Court of Appeals made an amazing decision to rule the words "Under God" unconstitutional as they apply to the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. My opinion on this decision while in favor of it, are not at issue here, but what is at issue is the fact that we pride ourselves on our justice system. It may not be perfect but it's better then what it could have been, yet, when we do not agree with something our courts say we try to change their minds by bashing our views against their until they crumble like so much cookie crumbs.

This is not the America I wish to live in. Where freedom of speech is used in a way to disrupt the legal process and where legally sound choices cannot stand. The name calling and bickering and "Hey look at us, we think we're smarter then you" nonsense has reached kindergarten proportions and frankly makes me ashamed of my fellow Americans. An intellectual and legitimate debate is needed here, not a bunch of talk show hosts boosting ratings by calling the judges in the case idiots.

The words "Under God" were added in 1954, when we were in the middle of the Cold War, in response to Russia. They were not written into the Pledge of Allegiance when it was first planned, nor where they a part of it when schools started reciting it soon after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. This is not a matter a patriotism, it is a matter of religion and our freedom to choose whatever religion we wish to, weather we choose to worship "God" or not." Each person should be given that right, and not have it forced upon him or her in the public schools or anywhere else. Taking out the words "Under God" will not effect the strong spirit behind the words, and so, I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
