Amusing myself
Jun. 1st, 2011 08:13 pmI have discovered that, off the top of my head, I know more Japanese words then French (which is sad if you think of how long I've been trying to teach myself French), yet I can string A sentence together in French, I cannot do it in Japanese (without extra English and ordering bread for police officers...don't ask, those are the way the words I know fall into place).
I am passible enough in Spanish to get through a few hours in a border town...but beyond that...not a chance. The rest are a handful of words picked up over the years that are either too immpolite to use regularly or mean nothing in an every day situation.
...I'm not multi-lingual I'm multi-foot in mouth.
I think after the move I might spring for actual language classes and stop magpieing words.
